“I consider my contributions as a medical educator in cardiology as my biggest accomplishment. The teacher in me feels elated on seeing the professional and personal growth of my mentees and trainees at all levels of medical education particularly in the field of cardiology. I am passionate about bringing out the innate strengths of my trainees and mentees in research, innovation and quality improvement in addition to clinical excellence and serve as a conduit for their successful careers in cardiology.”
As an Interventional Cardiologist with interest in structural heart disease and as Director of cardiac cath lab I lead my team in delivering excellent patient care; one that is relationship-based and patient-centered. The role of cardiovascular disease fellowship program director allows me to model future cardiologists as physician scientists, clinician educators and health care leaders in community. As Vice Chairperson of Medicine for Gender Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, I am leading efforts toward diversifying the workforce across medicine specialties and focus on inclusive professional development for women and under-represented minorities with a goal to create a diverse and culturally rich environment conducive for learning and just health care delivery.
