Dear ACC Chapter Members:

The news media will be reporting today that the House Ways and Means Committee has forged an agreement to permanently repeal the SGR. This is tremendous news as the bill also includes a 0.5% hike in physician payment fees over each of the next five years. What is not apparent is exactly how this will be funded. This is called pay-go in legislative language and the committee will now work to find the funding. The continued work of ACC is part of the reason we have Congressional leaders focusing on fixing this flawed payment system. Each of you contributed to the compromise when you called up your lawmaker letting him/her know that a fix was necessary to your practice. Yes, there is still work to be done. But after fighting this for 20 years we have reached a milestone. A light has started to shine at the end of the tunnel.
