Beyond Statins: A Practical Plan to Incorporate the New Lipid Agents

Please join our special guest, Dr. Benjamin Romer from Ohio State University, as we address the current state of lipid therapy in both primary and secondary prevention patients. He addresses a practical approach to the issue of statin intolerance, then reviews the newer agents including ezetimide and bempedoic acid, as well as the newer percutaneous agents, with a focus on practical tips for implementation. Please join our special guest Dr. Ian Neeland from University Hospitals in Cleveland, to discuss the intersection of obesity and cardiovascular disease, and specifically the roles of the new agents semaglutide and tirzepatide. Join our host, Ohio-ACC President  Dr. Kanny Grewal, and guests Drs. Ankit Bhatia and Gregory F. Something In the Air: A New Risk Factor for Cardiovascular Disease

In episode 13 of the CardiOhio Podcast, we learn about a newly emerging risk factor for cardiovascular disease, air pollution,  from a local expert, Dr. Sadeer Al-Kindi from University Hospitals in Cleveland.  We review the sources of air pollution in both westernized and developing countries, and discuss the evidence for a causative role in the development of cardiovascular disease, as well as potential pathophysiologic mechanisms.  We conclude by discussing strategies to mitigate risk both at the societal and individual levels.
